hi! I’m so happy you’re here.

Håfa Adai! My name is Gabriela Starr and I am a trauma-conscious educator, certified parent–child relationship coach, and somatic attachment and inner child healing practitioner. I'm also a mother of four Gen Alpha anomalies—an 8-year-old, a 7-year-old, and twin toddlers—and I’ve spent the last 15+ years walking alongside youth, adults, and communities doing the raw, necessary work of breaking intergenerational and societal cycles that are no longer serving us.

I’ve served as a mental health professional, director, and nonprofit strategist in food pantries, group homes, and expressive arts organizations. I’ve worked with local nonprofits like Make-A-Wish Illinois and national advocacy orgs like Supermajority and Supermajority Education Fund. Most recently, I’ve led as Co-CEO of Self-Reclaimed, a survivor-centered nonprofit disrupting sexual assault and domestic violence, and I continue to hold space as a Rage Doula and Facilitator with RAGEher, a movement and embodiment experience for those who hold womanhood or femmeness in their story, to express the healthy emotion of anger.

KAINIX isn’t your typical parenting space—and honestly, that’s the point. It’s part mirror, part machete: a place to see yourself clearly and cut through the noise of everything that never worked. I created this work for all families—for the ones raising kids, the ones re-raising themselves, the ones doing both while drinking cold coffee and questioning everything. It’s for queer families, chosen families, multigenerational households, solo parents, and every beautiful, complicated structure in between.

I’m here to disrupt the status quo with a messy kind of magic—the kind that breathes through bedtime chaos and existential spirals in the snack aisle. This work is critical, but we don’t have to be somber about it. We make room for the absurdity of parenting and navigating this world as adults who were taught trigonometry over self-awareness. We name the cycles of harm. We liberate ourselves. And yes—this work is for the men too. Because the future of our planet doesn’t rest solely on the shoulders of women and nonbinary folks. We all have a role to play in raising something better. If that sounds like your kind of healing or your kind of community? You’ve found your people. Let’s build something worth passing on.
